Bernice
Rosmarin
Jul 26, 1930 — Sep 14, 2020
Bernice Rosmarin of Port St. Lucie, FL and formerly of Edison and Woodbridge, NJ, died peacefully at age 90 on September 14, 2020 after living a full and rewarding life. Bernice grew up on Pelham Parkway in the Bronx, not far from her future husband, Marvin. They met on a sunny day at Orchard Beach, spent dinner dates on City Island, and married after Marvin returned from military service in Japan. They were each other's first loves and they spent more than a half century together in marriage. She and Marvin raised their children in Edison, NJ. They were deeply engaged in the community and took great pride in being one of the founding families of Temple Emanu-El of Edison. The synagogue began in a small, rented church in 1962 and grew into today's large and vibrant congregation. While raising her children, Bernice caught the travel bug. After taking a class and learning the ropes as a travel agent, she founded Edison Travel, Inc. Within a few years, Marvin joined her in this business, which eventually grew into a chain of five offices in central New Jersey. Bernice was a pioneering businesswoman. She and Marvin founded a travel industry professional society, NJTIPS, where they each held executive positions. Bernice loved the politics of the travel industry and rose through the ranks of the American Society of Travel Agents. In the course of this work, she met business and political leaders and was eventually elected Senior Vice President of this large national organization. Bernice remained active in this industry for more than four decades. Travel was not just their business, it was their passion. Together, they traveled the world, visiting regions that many had never heard of and fewer had experienced. She moved to Florida with Marvin two decades ago and built a new network of friends through her new community and synagogue. Bernice took pride in her family and loved kvelling about each one. Bernice was predeceased by her husband Marvin in 2009. She leaves her children, Marcie (Anthony), Alan (Ada), and Steven; grandchildren, Amara, Josh (Amy), Charlie, Maya, and Talia; and great grandchildren, David and Michael.
Funeral arrangements will be private and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Please make donations to the charity of your choice to honor the memory of Bernice. Arrangements under the direction of Flynn and Son Funeral Home, Fords, NJ.
