Bernice Douglas Evangelista 91, of Edison entered into eternal rest, Friday January 17, 2014 at the Berkley Heights Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Jersey City and was formerly of Iselin before moving to Edison 25 years ago.

Bernice was part of the Granny Program at the Woodbridge Developmental Center in Avenel for 15 years before retiring in 2004.

She was predeceased by her first husband John Douglas in 1965, and her second husband Louis Evangelista in 1988, and her son Mark Douglas in 2011. Bernice is survived by her daughter Erin Gunneson and her husband Lee of Avenel, her daughter-in-law Marguerite Douglas of Fords, grandsons Michael Rinkus, John Douglas, Evan Douglas, and granddaughterTara Rinkus and great grandchildren Seth, Jake, and Gracie.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 am at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home 23 Ford Avenue, Fords. Interment will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
