Bernice Barone (née Magyar) was born on March 13, 1932, in Fords, New Jersey, where she began a life defined by love, devotion, and family. She later resided in Woodbridge, NJ, where she raised her family and created countless cherished memories.
On September 7, 1963, Bernice married the love of her life, Louis Barone. Together they shared 50 beautiful years of marriage until Louis's passing in 2014. Their love story began down the Jersey Shore at the Osprey in Manasquan, a meeting that would shape the rest of Bernice's life.
Bernice was a proud 1950 graduate of Metuchen High School and was employed at Indiana General before embracing the role she treasured most—that of a devoted wife and mother. After the birth of her daughter, she became a stay-at-home mother, caring lovingly for her husband and daughter and creating a warm, nurturing home filled with love.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Michele Barone-Padden, and her husband, Christopher, of Fords, NJ. Bernice was the adored grandmother of Caitlin, Ryan, and Lauren, who were the light of her life and brought her endless joy and pride.
Bernice is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews: Debby Bailey (Richard), Stephen Purdy Jr. Susan Kirby, Charlene McDonagh, Donna Milazzo (Dave), Charles Westphal (Joanne), Mark Barone (Barbara), Leslie Scherzer (Robert), and John Magyar. In addition, she is survived by Michele's lifelong best friend, Monica Lahey, whom Bernice loved deeply and thought of as a second daughter.
Bernice was truly beloved by all who knew her. Her kindness, warmth, and selfless devotion to her family will be remembered always. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she loved so deeply and who loved her in return.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 4-8 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ 08863. Funeral services will begin on Saturday ay 9:30 am in the funeral home followed by a 10 am Funeral Liturgy at St. James Church in Woodbridge. Entombment will be in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens.
