Bernard J. Saksinsky, 82, of Parlin died on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy. Born on December 17, 1927 in Perth Amboy, he resided in Perth Amboy until moving to Parlin ten years ago.
He retired in 1984 as a Perth Amboy Firefighter for Engine Company #4, "The Eagles," for 27 years. After retiring, he served as a volunteer firefighter for the same company. He was also was a funeral assistant for Flynn and son Funeral Home, Fords, for several years. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a Communicant of St. Stephen's RC Church, Perth Amboy. He was a member of International Association of Firefighters and American Legion Post #45, Perth Amboy.
He was predeceased by his siblings and their spouses: Charles Saksinsky and his wife Helen; Edward Saksinsky and his wife Dorothy; Joseph Saksinsky; Stella Batiuk and her husband John; Florence Batiuk and her husband Michael; and Ann Bruskiewicz and her husband Sigmund.
He is survived by his Wife of 59 years, Estelle Estrada Saksinsky; son, David Saksinsky and his wife Susan of Aberdeen; two brothers: William Saksinsky and his wife Mary of Jackson, and Thomas Saksinsky and his wife Lorraine of Perth Amboy; two granddaughters: Ashley and Paige Saksinsky; many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at 10:00 AM at St. Stephen's RC Church, Perth Amboy, under the direction of Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ.
