Obituary

Bernadette E Lukacs, 94, sadly passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at her daughter's home with her family by her side.

A lifelong resident of the Clara Barton/Edison area Bernadette was one of three children of the late Francis and Rosalie Optiz Pasternak. Dedicating most of her career to raising her two daughters, she held clerical positions for Bamberger's, then Macy's for several years.

A woman of faith, Bernadette was a parishioner of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Fords. She was also active in the parish Altar Rosary Society, the Knights of Columbus Council #9199 Columbiettes, Fords Women's Club and the Clara Barton Seniors Group.

Bernadette, mom, grandma, was the heart of where family grew from.  From her boundless compassion, unwavering strength and support, to her endless love, caring and joy she enveloped everyone with her beautiful soul. Bernadette taught her family how to be good people. She taught her daughters how to be good moms. She guided her grandchildren to be caring and responsible.  Her lessons, laughter and memories will live on. From sewing lessons to prize winning Halloween Costumes; from cooking lessons to sharing family recipes with the next generations Bernadette's legacies of faith, family, and love with continue with the next generations.

Sadly, Bernadette was preceded in death by her dear husband Aladar J Lukacs in 2016, and her brother Francis Pasterak.  Bernadette is survived by her daughters: Gail Lukacs Connell, her husband Michael Connell; and Denise Bianrosa, and her husband Thomas O'Gara; her grandchildren Christopher, Lyndsey, and Thomas; and her sister Dolores Daton.

Friends may call on Monday, October 7, 2024 from 4:00-8:00pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, where services will begin on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 10:00am followed by a 10:30am Funeral Liturgy in Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Fords.
