Benjamin Baez, Jr., 71, of Carteret, passed peacefully with his family at his side, on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the RWJ Hospital in Rahway. He was born on February 6, 1952, in Bayamon, Puerto Rico and moved to the US as a teenager. He had been a resident of Carteret for the last 7 years.

He was the owner operator of Metropolitan Landscaping in Carteret for many years.

He was predeceased by his beloved son Benjamin Baez, III, his beloved daughter, Marisol Baez, and his brother Wilfredo Baez.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 25 years, Sylvia Alonso Baez his 6 children; Sorimal Baez in Florida, Wanda Baez-Gomez and her husband Jose, of Jackson, Zoraima Baez of Asbury Park, Norman D. Baez and his wife Danielle of Middletown, Wilfredo Baez of Carteret and Iris J Melendez and her husband Anthony of Middletown, his 16 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and his 3 siblings Hilda Baez of Orlando, FL, Hector Baez of California and Maribel Baez of Puerto Rico.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday March 29, 2023 from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 424 East Ave. Perth Amboy, NJ 08861. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 pm with Pastor Angel Ortega Officiating.  A private cremation will follow on Thursday, March 30, 2023.
