August W. Kroeschel, 77, of Fords died on June 24, 2010 at the Barbara E. Cheung Hospice in Edison. Born October 30, 1932, in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, he lived in Summit and has resided in Fords for the last 47 years.
August was a plant manager for Wiggens Plastics in Clifton. He played professional soccer for Rott Weiss Essen in Germany. He was a member of the Elizabeth Sports Club for over 50 years where he played soccer. He was a member of the Berliner Club.
Surviving family members include his beloved wife of 55 years, Irma (nee Gruen) Kroeschel of Fords; son, Ronald Kroeschel and his wife, Nancy, of Lanoka Harbor, NJ; and a granddaughter, April.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 28, 2010, at a time to be announced from the FLYNN AND SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ. Entombment will be in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens. Visitation on Sunday, June 27, from 4-7 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.
