Armand Cannamela, 88, of Perth Amboy, passed peacefully at the Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.   He was born on July 3, 1935, in Perth Amboy and was a lifelong resident of the city.  He attended Ohio State and Monmouth Universities, and received his Masters Degree in Education from Seton Hall University.  He began his life-long career as an educator in the Middletown School District's English Department and retired as Principal of the Flynn School in Perth Amboy after 42 years.

He also served as the Perth Amboy Council President, on the Perth Amboy Board of Education, the Perth Amboy Planning Board and was a member of the Perth Amboy Hall of Fame. He also authored a book entitled, "Poems from the Heart."

Armand was a communicant of the Most Holy Rosary Church of the Good Shepherd Parish in Hopelawn, and a member of the Holy Name Society at the church.

He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Stella Cannamela; his beloved wife, Bernice, who passed in 2017; his infant brother, Armand Cannamela; and his sister, Leonora Cannata.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his two beloved sons, Paul Cannamela of Perth Amboy and Frank Cannamela and his wife, Barbara, of Wall Twp.; and his three cherished grandchildren: P.J., Kelsey, and Frank Cannamela, Jr.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ 08863.  Funeral Services will begin on Monday April 29, 2024, at 10:00 am from the funeral home followed by a 10:30 am Funeral Liturgy at Good Shepherd Parish-Holy Rosary Church in Hopelawn. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Parlin.
