Arlene Wright of Perth Amboy, NJ, died on February 12, 2019. She was the beloved mother to George Wright III and Cynthia Woodward. Arlene was born in Perth Amboy and lived there until 1968. From 1968 until 2000 she lived in Woodbridge. Since 2000 she lived at her mother's home in Perth Amboy. She is predeceased by her parents John and Goldie Kodan as well as her infant brother Charles.
Arlene graduated from Perth Amboy High School and earned an English/Business degree from Middlesex County College. Recently, she worked as a real estate agent for Weichert Realtors in Metuchen. Arlene loved Manhattan and worked there as a commercial real estate agent for Stephen W. Brener Associates and was employed as a Sales Manager for the Hotel Pennsylvania and the Milford Plaza Hotel. She was also employed in New Jersey as a Director of Sales and Marketing for the Howard Johnson Hotel, Newark International Airport Hotel and the Governor Morris Inn.
Arlene loved politics and was a member of the NJ Conservative GOP, the Republican Woman's Club and was elected as the Republican Committee Woman for Perth Amboy.
She was an avid reader, a devout fan of the Yankees and Jets and enjoyed flea markets, concerts, news, politics, and political debate. But most of all, she loved her two children, George and Cynthia. "Mom" always supported her son and was instrumental in his success. She was interested in any of her son's interests and hobbies and adopted many of them as her own. She loved going to see him at his apartment in Manhattan and spending time with him at the Jersey Shore. Arlene will be best remembered for her youthfulness, insight, compassion, spirituality and her amazing smile.
Friends and family may visit at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ on Saturday February 16, 2019 from 9 am to 11 am, immediately followed by a ceremony at the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Assumption Cemetery on Florida Grove Road in Hopelawn.
