Obituary

Antonio "Tony" Martinez, 51, of Plainfield, NJ, passed suddenly, but peacefully at home in his sleep, on Thursday, October 22, 2026.

He was born on April 16, 1975, in Plainfield, NJ and was formerly of Edison Twp. and the Fords section of Woodbridge Twp. and had been a resident of Plainfield for most of his life.

Tony was an amazing chef who used his gift to bring people together. After high school, he went to school for culinary arts and built a great career working at various restaurants, most notably for Marriott. But his real passion was cooking for his family and friends. He never missed a chance to whip up something delicious, and show his love through food.

Tony was a remarkable, one-of-a-kind father whose favorite thing to do was spend time with his daughter. They loved talking about their favorite TV shows and anime, and their fondest memories were daddy-daughter dates at Bowcraft.

Tony was also an avid gamer, NY Giants fan and a NY Mets fan. Anyone that ever met Tony never forgot him. He was the most outgoing, talkative person you’d ever meet. He loved giving people advice, and his famous words were, “Well, what you need to do is...” He was always the go-to person everyone called for recipes, and he could make friends anywhere he went, leaving a lasting mark on everyone who crossed his path.

He leaves behind, his beloved wife, Stayce Martinez, his beloved daughter, Gianna Teresa "Pickle" Martinez, his dearly beloved mother, Ivonne Martinez, his brother, Kenneth Martinez and his sister-in-law Yvette Boodhram, his sister, Katherine Martinez and his niece Macy Martinez.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, from 5 pm until 8 pm at, the Flynn and Son / Mitruska Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863. Cremation services will beheld privately.

Flowers are appreciated or donations may be made in Tony's memory to: the American Diabetes Association at American Diabetes Association.
