Obituary

Anthony Stagliano, 94, of Perth Amboy, died Friday, April 17, 2020.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, on January 25, 1926 he moved to Perth Amboy, NJ, shortly after, where he resided permanently.

He was a graduate of Perth Amboy High School, with the "Class of 1943".

Anthony was a  WWII veteran (1944-1946) having served as a Class 3 Signalman in the U.S. Navy on the SS Lyons Creek and was a member of the Catholic War Veterans, Post #1613.

After serving in the U.S. Navy, Anthony graduated from Perth Amboy Vocational School and worked for the Ford Motor Company in Edison for 10 years.  He retired from The Perth Amboy Post Office, after 25 years of service, as a Distribution Clerk.

He was a Communicant and member of the Holy Name Society of The Church of the Most Holy Rosary of the Good Shepherd Parish in Hopelawn.

Anthony was predeceased by his beloved wife Dorothy (nee: Dunay) Stagliano, who died in 1992, his grandson Anthony Handerhan and his three sisters; Marion Paone, Florence Ruggiero and Emily Waverczak,

He leaves behind, his three beloved daughters; Ann Handerhan and her husband Bob of Woodbridge, Mary Stagliano, with whom he resided and Theresa Jacobs and her husband Craig of Hazlet, and his five grandchildren; Robert, Liam and Ellen Rose Handerhan and Steven and Matthew Jacobs.  Also surviving are his three nieces; Emily Vinciguerra, Jean Montalvo, Carol Leszega, and two nephews; Joseph Paone and Martin Paone all of whom he loved dearly.

Due to the Covid-19 crisis, private funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863.  A memorial mass will be held at a later date.
Interment is in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia and is also private.
