Anthony Scotto-d'Abusco, 84, of Colonia, passed away November 5, 2015, at his residence. Born on Island of Ischia, Italy, he resided in Colonia for many years. He graduated from the Naval Civil Academy in Italy where he studied to become an Engineer. He served as Captain of Marine Engineering with the Italian Merchant Marines. Upon his arrival in the States, Anthony was employed as an Engineer for Costa Ice Cream in New Brunswick and remained there until its closing. After leaving Costa, he joined PSE&G in Linden where he was a Senior Supervisor for Maintenance and Repair. He later joined Squibb in New Brunswick as a Supervisor. He remained with Bristol Myers Squibb as a Consultant for mechanical work and was named Director of Utilities and Service, finally retiring in 1995. Anthony was a member of the Amwell Valley Conservancy, West Amwell, and a member of Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish of Holy Rosary, Hopelawn.
Anthony was predeceased by his wife, Elda Maffei Scotto-d'Abusco, an educator with the Edison School system, who passed in 2014 and ten brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his sisters, Gilda Buono and Ida Agostino, both of Italy; his cousins, David Maffei of Point Pleasant; Carla Cavallo and Linda Malkiewicz, both of Texas; and many nieces and nephews in both Italy and Argentina.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 am, on Friday, November 13, 2015 from Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, followed by a 10am mass at Holy Rosary Church, Hopelawn. Entombment to follow in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2015, from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the funeral home.
