May 8, 1929 – January 18, 2024
Anthony M Romano, Sr. 94, of the Fords section of Woodbridge Twp. passed peacefully on Thursday morning of January 18, 2024 at Parker Home at River Rd in Piscataway.
He was born on May 8, 1929, raised in Newark, where he met and married his wife Joan in 1954 before settling in Fords in 1960 where they called home and raised their four children.
He proudly served his country in the Korean War as a US Army Corporal serving as a medic and earning 2 bronze stars and a combat infantry medal in the process before being honorably discharged.
He studied at Rutgers University in Newark and had been employed as the General Manager and Accountant with Hall & Fuhs / White Motor Company in Mountainside, NJ for many years before retiring 30 years ago.
He volunteered his time with many organizations, including the Woodbridge Elks Lodge # 2116 where he served as district Deputy and Exhaulted Ruler. He was past commander of VFW Post # 1352 in Hopelawn, he was Communicant and usher and a member of the Holy Name Society at Our Lady of Peace RC Church in Fords, a member of the Knights of Columbus, of the Our Lady of Peace Council in Fords.
He also had served as Middlesex County Committee man and was a former member the Woodbridge Twp Zoning Board.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Joan Romano who died in 2020, and his two sisters, Mary Ingato and Linda Hardee.
He leaves behind his four beloved children, Jo-Ann Ferri, Joseph Romano and his wife Anne, Anthony Romano and his wife Kristina and Gina Repace and her husband Gary, his seven grandchildren, Jill, Kristina, Erik, Steven Vinny, Nicholas and Derek and three great-grandchildren, Gianna, Kayleigh and Neil, a brother Nicholas Romano and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday January 24, 2024 from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863
Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning, January 25, 2024 at 10 am from the Flynn and Son Funeral Home followed by a 10:30 am Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace RC Church in Fords. Interment will follow in Brig. General William C Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown.
