Obituary

Anne F. Tasy passed away peacefully at Parker at Somerset on Wednesday November 6, 2019 at the age of 97.

Anne was born Antoinette Geraldine Ferrara on July 31, 1922 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey to Peter (Pietro) Ferrara and Josephine (Giuseppina) Catania Ferrara.  Both Peter and Josephine were immigrants to the United States from Sicily, Italy in the second decade of the twentieth century, Peter from the town of Palazzo Adriano and Josephine form the town of Regalbuto.

Anne began her career in banking and worked many years for the First Bank and Trust Company in Perth Amboy.  She subsequently worked in bookkeeping and finance for the Delaware Raritan Girl Scout Council and, later for Middlesex County College ("MCC") in Edison.  She retired in 1994 at age 72 from the Department of Corporate and Community Education at MCC following a fifteen (15) years career.  During her retirement she continued to work at MCC'S Blue Colt Bookstore.

Anne was a graduate of Perth Amboy High School and attended both the Drake Business School and the American Institute of Banking.  During the 1980's, while working full time and caring for her husband Steve, who was ill with Alzheimer's Disease, she earned an Associate Degree in Accounting from Middlesex County College.

Anne was, in equal measure, a fan of Yankee baseball and of the opera.  She spent many a Saturday afternoon attending performances at the Metropolitan Opera and concerts in the park.  She was also a strong supporter of the New Jersey State Opera, where she volunteered many hours serving refreshments to performers at countless rehearsals. She enjoyed singing soprano as a hobby in her youth.  Anne was a true exponent of the "joy of life" whose optimism and enthusiasm were infectious to those who were privileged to know her.

Above all, Anne was also a strong person who cared deeply for her family and took care of all of them-her parents, her husband and son and her much loved grandsons.

She was a member of the Edison Senior Citizens, the Metuchen-Edison Historical Society, and past member of Catholic Daughters of America-Court San Salvador #275, a former parishioner of St. Mary's R C Church, Perth Amboy and Our Lady of Peace RC Church, Fords, and current parishioner of St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen.

Anne was predeceased by her parents; her beloved husband of 34 years Stephen J. Tasy; her niece, Therese Macheska; her first cousins, Antoinette "Nellie" DiBona, Bart Ferrara and Sebastian (Eno) Ferrara; and her dear friend in later years, Charles (Lee) Sofield.  She is survived by her son Stephen P. Tasy and his wife Marianne; grandsons Nicholas Stephen Tasy and Peter Joseph Tasy; niece Karen Kirbos and her husband Tony; nephews Alexander (Sandy) Tasy and his wife, Beverly; Mark Tasy and his wife Joanne; Gregory Tasy and his wife Marie; Michael Tasy and his wife Donna, Christopher Tasy and his wife Gina; and many cousins in the US, Italy, and Argentina.

Funeral services will be held on Monday November 11, 2019 at 9:45 am at the Flynn and Son/Koyen Funeral Home 319 Amboy Avenue, Metuchen, followed by a 10:15 am Funeral Liturgy at St. Francis Cathedral.  Interment will be in St. Gertrude Cemetery.  Visitation is Sunday November 10, 2019 from 2 pm to 6 pm.

The Tasy family wishes to thank the staff and an administration of Parker at Somerset, with deep appreciation and gratitude for the many years of dedicated and compassionate care the they provided to Anne.  We shall never forget your kindness.
