Obituary

Amedeo Di Muro, 84, of Metuchen died June 23, 2010, at home. Born in New York City on September 15, 1925, he resided in Newark before moving to Metuchen 51 years ago.

Mr. Di Muro was a cabinetmaker for the Clark Door Company in Cranford. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace. He loved to read. Amedeo was a member of Task Force 68 "Operation High Jump" onboard the U.S.S. Merrik, whom sailed to the South Pole to excavate Admiral Byrd's camp.

He is predeceased by his late son, Michael Di Muro, who died in 1987. Surviving family members include his beloved wife of 60 years, Raphaella (nee Saulino) Di Muro of Metuchen; son, Nicholas Di Muro and wife Ellen of New Egypt, NJ; daughter, Luci Caruso and her husband, Joseph, of Roosevelt, NJ; four grandchildren: Melanie, Nicholas, Jr., Nicole, and Joseph; two great-grandchildren: Nicholas III, and Lydia; brother, Clemente Di Muro of FL; and sister, Joan Tursi of Edison.

Funeral services will be on Monday, June 28, at 10 am from FLYNN AND SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ, followed by a 10:30 Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace Church in Fords. Interment will be in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 27, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
