Obituary

With hearts that ache yet overflow with gratitude for the gift of his life, we announce the return to
love of our beloved Omar, who transitioned on February 4, 2026.

Omar was joy embodied. He carried a smile that softened every room and a spirit that made
people feel safe, welcomed, and deeply loved. He loved fully and lived gently. To know him was
to experience laughter without effort, loyalty without condition, and a heart that was pure.

Born on June 13, 1985, in Orange, New Jersey, Omar was the cherished son of Alonzo Omar
Harris and the late Qayyimah Minimah Saleem-Madinah, whom he adored beyond measure.
His love for his mother was tender and unwavering.

Omar graduated from South Plainfield High School in 2004, where he formed lasting bonds and
especially cherished his beloved teacher, Mrs. Friedman, who understood and loved the very
essence of who he was. His South Plainfield friends were more than friends, they were
extended family. His roots ran deep in the SP community.

He worked diligently at ShopRite and Chick-fil-A in maintenance, always committed to building
his future. A budding entrepreneur, Omar sold his own signature body oils in local stores in
Plainfield and South Plainfield. He attended Middlesex County Adult Education for vocational
auto repair and took classes at Union County College. At the time of his transition, he was
proudly working toward obtaining his driver's license: focused, determined, and excited about
the road ahead.

Omar loved sports, especially football, and was a loyal Atlanta Falcons fan. His favorite color
was red: bold, vibrant, and impossible to ignore, just like him. He enjoyed long walks, time at the
South Plainfield PAL, listening to music, watching movies, and most of all, being with family.
Family was everything to Omar.

He leaves behind his loving father, Alonzo Omar Harris, with whom he enjoyed road trips,
movies, and soulful music.

He adored and admired his big brother, Shareef Saleem, and held deep pride in his niece,
Cheyenne, whom he loved with tenderness and joy.

His bond with his sister, Rajeeyah "Gigi" Madinah, his person, was sacred and daily. He called
her almost every day while at work or vacation, whether requesting turkey burgers or simply to
hear her voice. Those calls were love in motion.

He was immensely proud of his oldest sister, Dr. Waffiyah Saleem Iddriss, and cherished family
dinners at her home. He shared a warm bond with his brother-in-law, Iddriss Mohammed Sani,
especially over delicious meals. His nephews, Fahad, Mohammed Sani, and AbuBakar.
Omar loved food. He enjoyed his father's beefaroni and his mother's cooking, especially her
baked ziti. And whenever food was being prepared, Omar would dance, a simple, joyful
celebration that perfectly captured his spirit.

He treasured time with his aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family, especially visits to Uncle
Steve and Aunt Cathy's home.

To us, he was once "Dink Dink," a childhood nickname he eventually outgrew as he stepped
fully into the names Oski and O-Money, names that fit the strong, loving, and evolving man he
became.

He is further survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, classmates, beloved friends, and
extended family who will forever cherish his memory.

Though our home will never feel the same, his love remains stitched into the fabric of who we
are.

We take comfort in knowing he is reunited with our beloved mother and rests in eternal peace.

We will remember his laughter.
We will honor his loyalty.
We will carry forward his love.

Forever our baby brother.
Forever our Oski.

The family of Alonzo "Omar" Madinah Jr. extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has
surrounded us with love, prayers, and unwavering support during this difficult time.
