Alexander Smoyak, 94, of Edison died October 24, 2011, at Haven Hospice, JFK Medical Center, Edison.
He was born July 23, 1917, in Piscataway and resided in Edison for 58 years. For 30 years, he was a laborer at Carborundum Company in Keasbey retiring in 1979. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church in Fords.
Alexander is predeceased by many brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Elizabeth (Gidos); two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Robert Twardy of Sayreville and Judy and Ronald Dileo of Ft. Myers, FL; 2 granddaughters: Kimberly Conner and Sheri Rapp and husband Robert; a great-grandson, Maxwell Conner; a brother, Edward Szucs; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 29, 2011, at 8:30 AM from Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ followed by a 9 AM Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace RC Church, Fords. Interment will be held at Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Assumption Cemetery, Hopelawn. Visitation will be Friday, October 28, 2011 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 PM.
