Albert Kiyak
Retired Pipefitter, formerly of Fords and Perth Amboy, 80
Albert J. Kiyak died peacefully on June 13, 2012, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.
Born in Perth Amboy, NJ, Albert lived in Fords for 45 years, before moving to Hillsborough. He graduated from Perth Amboy High School in 1950, and served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1954. He worked a few years at Gerber in Woodbridge, but was best known as an exceptional pipefitter with UA Local 9 Plumbers and Pipefitters in Englishtown, NJ. He retired in 1994.
Al had a great love for his family and friends, and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was able to fix almost anything. He was well
known for his stories and jokes, his passion for the Giants and Yankees, his phenomenal memory of everyone¹s name, and his strength and courage throughout his illness.
Al was the beloved husband of Genevieve Kiyak for 57 years, devoted father of Gail Abel and her husband Jack and Karen DeSantis and her husband Dave. He was the most loving grandfather of Simone and Alex DeSantis, Jason Abel and Heather Abel and his four great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Michael Kiyak, Theodore Kiyak, the late Emil Kiyak, and the late Martha Vanco.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 16 at 10 am at the funeral home. Internment will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, June 15, from 5 to 9 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Fords Avenue, Fords, NJ 08863.
