Alan Cole Slaight Jr.,64, of Metuchen entered into eternal rest on February 9, 2012, at his home.

He was born in Edison, and was formerly of Piscataway. He moved to Metuchen 16 years ago.

Alan was an Electronics Technician before retiring last year. He served his country in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. Alan was a Deacon and Elder at the Grace Reformed Church in Edison. He was an experienced Ham Radio operator and enjoyed fishing in his spare time.

Alan was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen Bitler, in November 2011. He is survived by his children: Eric Slaight and his wife Theresa of Middlesex, Amy Slaight of North Brunswick, and his step-son, Kevin Bitler, of Metuchen; his three grandchildren: Emma, Hunter, and Madison; his mother, Ruth Laing Slaight of Myerstown, PA; and his sister, Susan J. Adams of Myerstown, PA.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, February 26, 2012, at the Grace Reformed Church, 2815 Woodbridge Avenue, Edison. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Flynn and Son/Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Avenue, Metuchen.
