Aida Ficarra, 81, of Colonia, passed peacefully at the Roosevelt Care Center, Edison, with her family at her side, on Tuesday, September 24, 2013.



She was born in Elizabeth, was formerly of the Colonia section of Woodbridge Twp. and has resided in Edison since 2005.

She was a graduate of Battin High School in Elizabeth, with the class of 1950.

She attended St. James Church in Woodbridge and was a former communicant of St. John Vianney in Colonia.

She was a member of the Portuguese Youth Club of Elizabeth and was very active along with her husband with the Iselin Knights of Columbus.

Aida was predeceased by her beloved husband, Michael Ficarra, Jr. who died in 2001, her son Michael Ficarra, III , her sister, Tillie Lages and her brother, Jack Lopes.

She leaves behind her dear son, Gregory Ficarra and his wife, Maritza of Woodbridge, and her 3 loving grandchildren, Casey Williams-Ficarra, Cole Ficarra and Michelle Rivera, and her devoted sister, Grace Perez of Coconut Grove, FL.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 27, 2013 at 10 a.m. from the Flynn & son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy, at St. James Church, Woodbridge, entombment will follow in the Good Shepherd Mausoleum at St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 26, 2013 from 4 pm to 8 pm at the funeral Home.

In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made in Aida's memory to the Michael Ficarra Scholarship Fund.
