John Guy Kimberlin, age 86 of Iselin, died on Monday at Roosevelt Care Center in Edison. He was born in Jersey City and had resided in Woodbridge Township for 53 years in Menlo Park Terrace and Iselin.
John was a former Exxon Corporation executive, serving as the Corporate Cashier in the Treasurers Department. Previously he served in executive and management positions in the Computer Sciences Department at Exxon. He was active in the Data Processing Management Association, both at the local and international level. He was a member of the local chapter’s Board of Directors and served in the International Executive Council. He held the prestigious Certificate in Data Processing and was a recipient of the Association’s highest Individual Performance Award.
John held a BA degree in Economics from New York University and an MBA in Finance from Rutgers University. He was a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society.
He was the Past President of the Menlo Park Civic Association and was a Little League baseball coach. He is the former Treasurer and Trustee of the Woodbridge Free Public Library. John served on the Woodbridge Town Council from 1992 to 1995 and served as Vice Commander of the American Legion Post 471 and President of the Iselin AARP Chapter 3810.
He was a longtime communicant of St. Cecelia’s RC Church in Iselin and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3639. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Signal Corps during WWII.
He was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn Marchitto Kimberlin who died in 1989.
Surviving are his sons, John G. III and his wife, Donna of South Brunswick, Keith and his significant other, Jim Frederick of Pottstown PA, Joseph and his wife, Mary Kay of Spotswood, Kevin and his wife, Mary Beth of South Brunswick and James D. and his wife, Anna of Hawthorne and his daughters, Karen Kimberlin and her husband, William Tullo of Tinton Falls, Joyce Klotz and her husband, Michael of Fanwood and Janice Binning of Bridgewater. Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren, two great granddaughters and his companion, LaVerne Altman.
