William J. Berry

William J. Berry, age 86 of Edison, died on Saturday at The Barbara E. Cheung MemorialHospice in Edison. He was born in Manhattan and had resided in Stelton before moving to Edison in 1951.

Mr. Berry was a graduate of the New Brunswick Vocational School. He was a Sheet Metal Worker for the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local # 27 of East Brunswick for over 41 years before retiring 24 years ago. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII in Hawaii and the Central, Asiatic and South Pacific Campaigns. He was a member of The VFW Post # 3117 in Edison, a communicant of St. Matthew the Apostle RC Church in Edison and an avid fisherman.

He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Lisa Berry who died in 1974 and his son-in-law, Alfred “Joe” Togneri who died in 2006.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Miriam Berry, his daughter, Judith L. Togneri of Brick, his sons and daughters-in-law, Michael A. and Lisa V. Berry of Jensen Beach FL and Timothy G. and Robin J. Berry of Edison, his seven grandchildren, Tracy, Michael, Ryan, Brandon, Christian Kaloi, Lisa Marie Togneri, and Michelle Ann Scullion and his ten great grandchildren.
